Dennis J. Cutting, 74, of Manhattan, KS died Sunday morning at the University of Kansas Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born October 18, 1944 in Sioux City, IA the son of Philip and Mary (Beaubien) Cutting.
Dennis was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan, KS. He served in US Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
He attended South High School in Denver, CO and graduated from Avila University in Kansas City, MO. After graduating, he worked at St. Mary’s hospital in Manhattan, KS as Vice President and Head of Respiratory Therapy. He also owned and operated Home-Ox of Kansas and Manhattan Medical Supply in Manhattan, KS from 1978 to 2014 with his wife, Carol. Dennis was a member of the Manhattan Country Club, American Legion Post 17 and the Flint Hills Senior Volunteers.
He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, golf, skiing, and photography but he would have passed on any of those to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Dennis married Carol Schell on August 19, 1967 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She survives of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Leslie (Andrew) Werring of Atchison, KS, two sons, David (Patricia) Cutting of Wichita, KS, Daniel (Tiffany) Cutting of Manhattan, KS, five siblings, Kathleen Barrett, of San Marcos, CA, Tom Coury of Wellington, KS, Renee Coury of Omaha, NE, Suzie (John) Broberg of Kansas City, MO, and Liz (Steve) Bauer of Denver, CO. Four grandchildren, Carlyn DeBolt, Lillian Werring, Ethan Cutting and Johnathan Cutting also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Mary along with his step-father, Elias Coury, a sister, Mary and brother Robert.
Dennis will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Rosaries will be prayed at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in honor of Dennis’ grandchildren to be made to Maur-Hill Mount Academy Endowment, St. Benedict’s Catholic School Endowment Fund, The Monks of St. Benedict’s Abbey of Atchison, KS and St. Francis of Assisi Endowment Fund sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
