Arloene M. “Arlie” Simmons, 95, of Lecompton, KS died Monday, September 3, 2018.
She was born November 3, 1922 in Lecompton, KS the daughter of Albert and Anna (Stuck) DeKat. Arlie was a graduate of Lecompton Rural High School.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a life member of the Lecompton Historical Society.
Arlie married George Simmons on January 24, 1942 in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death February 1, 2012. She is survived by two daughters, Rita (Robert) Mock of Fulton, MO, Georgia Trammel of Lecompton, six grandchildren, Stephanie Thomas, Jeff (Jenny) Bird, Sherie (Matt) Willis, Matt (Tracey) Bird, Eddie (Gina) Teets, Kelly (Chris) Houck along with numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son Stanley Simmons, a son-in-law, Johnny Trammel, a grandson-in-law, Tom Thomas, her siblings, Ann Theresa DeKat who died in infancy, Romanus Cornelius DeKat and Lavina Rose Hanna.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry, Ks. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Big Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church or St. Peter’s Cemetery, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
