Robert John Burghart

Robert John Burghart, 79, of Topeka, passed away September 4, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 16, 1939 in Topeka, son of Albert and Elizabeth Burghart.

Robert married Patricia A. Burghart at Sacred Heart Church on June 17, 1961. Together they had seven children. Robert worked for most his life as a Laborer at Seaboard/Cargill.

Robert most enjoyed watching his children and grand children playing sports. He treasured holidays with family, decorating and setting up all the lights for Christmas.  Robert loved for his family to get together, have cook outs and barbeques where you could always find him eating fried food with a cigar in hand. He worshipped Colts football.

Robert is preceded in death by both of his parents and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Burghart.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years; sons, Mike (Jafawn) Burghart of Tecumseh and Scott (Kelly) Burghart of Tecumseh; daughters Barbara (George) Voegeli of Tecumseh, Patti (Mike) Burris of Topeka, Tracy (JR) Anguiano of Topeka, and Mandy (Melissa) Burghart of Auburn; 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life was Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Brennan Mathena Funeral Home. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am.  Burial of his urn will follow the mass at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.
