Marcella M. Smith

Marcella M. Smith, 91, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka and Stockton, died August 31, 2018 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence, KS.

She was born on March 9, 1927 in Centralia, KS the daughter of Charles E. and Mary E. (Miller) Hochard. 

She graduated from Centralia High School in the class of 1945. 

On April 28, 1946, she married Elton R. Smith.  He preceded her in death in 2005.  Marcella worked for many years for Production Credit Association in Stockton, KS. 

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Taylor, Topeka and Jeannie Wark of Lawrence, KS; 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers, Bill Hochard of Topeka, KS and Donald Hochard of Farley, MO, and one sister, Dorothy Kent of Douglasville, GA.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Hochard and Melvin Hochard. 

Mrs. Smith donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center.  There will be no services.  Memorial contributions can be made to Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice, 1420 Wakarusa Drive, Suite 202, Lawrence, KS  66049.
