Guadalupe “Lupe” C. Tinoco, 71, passed away peacefully in her home August 8, 2018. Born February 12, 1947 to Genevieve (Serna) Barranco, Lupe was a lifelong Topeka resident.
After attending Our Lady of Guadalupe School and Hayden High School (1965), Lupe spent over 40 years of her career at Blue Cross Blue Shield, retiring from the training department. On May 2, 1970, Lupe married Reymundo “Ray” Tinoco and the two were blessed to spend over 47 years of life together traveling, dancing, cooking, and attending family events. Ray preceded Lupe in death on December 28, 2017.
With a passion for life, her family, her church, and her community, Lupe dedicated countless hours to watching her grandchildren; volunteering on the Lulac Council; and serving on Altar Society and Parish Council for Our Lady of Guadalupe church as well as preparing food for the Fiesta Mexicana annual church and school fundraiser. Lupe was an avid KU and Chiefs fan and loved cheering on her teams. She always cherished the opportunity for a new adventure, a chance to visit with friends, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved and gave unconditionally without judgement or limit.
