Eusebia “Peggy” E. Barranco, 85, of Topeka, died June 4, 2018 at the House at Midland Care surrounded by her family. Peggy was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 5, 1933 the daughter of Ysaias Demetrio Escobar and Maria Magdelena Barron Escobar.
Peggy married Salvador Barranco in Topeka, Kansas on February 9, 1957. Together they had three children. She worked at Seymour Foods, then later worked at USD #501 where she was a food server at Avondale East Elementary School. Peggy was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Altar Society, and was Princess for American G.I. Forum. She loved to cook, especially making tortillas. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Peggy valued being a volunteer at the Mexican Fiesta and loved music and dancing.
She is preceded in death by her grandson Jordan Barranco in 2012, two brothers; Daniel and George Escobar, and two sisters; Pauline Sauceda and Lucia Martinez.
Peggy is survived by her husband Salvador of 61 years. She is also survived by two sons, Juan (Elizabeth) Barranco of Topeka and Armando (Theresa) Barranco of Topeka, a daughter, Rita Barranco of Topeka, five grandchildren; Ryan, Cierra, Jerilyn, Aaron, and Taya, a great grandson, Jordan Barranco Jr., two sisters, Luisa (Carmen) Ramirez of Topeka and Juanita Toledo of Topeka, and three brothers; Vincente, John (Rachel) and Pedro (Rosemary) Escobar all of Topeka.
Family will receive friends at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday, June 10 from 3:00p.m.- 7:00 p.m. An Altar Society Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 11 at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 10:00, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care or the OLG Altar Society and sent in the care of Brennan Mathena Funeral Home.
