Domitila “Domi” Sanchez, 91, of Topeka, died March 7, 2018 at the House at Midland Care.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 16, 1926 the daughter of Pedro and Amalia (Rodriguez) Blancas. She attended Branner Annex, Branner, East Topeka and Topeka High.
Domi was an Inspector for Volume Shoe Corporation where she had over 30 years of service.
She enjoyed music, cooking, baking, dancing and reading magazines. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren.
She married Juventino Sanchez in Topeka, Kansas on October 5, 1946. They have celebrated over 71 years of marriage. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include five daughters, Gloria (Allen) Sanchez-Penix of Berryton, Anita (Mike) Ramirez of Topeka, Olivia (Paul) Rivera of Topeka, Connie (Dennis) Stroud of Topeka, Gina Reynoldson of Lenexa, Ks., two sons, Juventino Sanchez Jr. of Topeka, Andre (Connie) Sanchez of Topeka, three brothers, Steve Blancas Sr. of Topeka, Raymond (Mincha) Blancas of Evans, GA, Roger Blancas of Topeka, two sisters, Jovita Smith of Manhattan, Ks. And Delores (Lupe) Rivera of Downey, CA, 23 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Amalia Blancas, her siblings, Margaret Blancas, Ray Blancas and Delphina Ruiz and a grandson, Montana Stroud.
Domi will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and a parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
