Marvin W. Poell, 72, of Topeka, KS unexpectantly died on February 27, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. He is now reunited with his late wife, Sandra Ann, whom preceded him in death on August 18, 1994.
Marvin was born April 3, 1945 in Marysville, KS the son of Wilfred and Loretta (Bond) Poell.
For many years he was the owner and operator of Valley Vista Locker Plant.
Marvin served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #8059 and the Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.
He enjoyed working in his garden, tinkering with his Model “A”, taking trips with his brothers and his buddies and never met a stranger, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and attending his grand kids activities.
Marvin married Sandra Ann Kriley on June 26, 1971 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton, KS.
He is survived by his children, Angie (Aaron) Bachelor, Justin (Lizzie Doud) Poell, Ginger (Trevor) Belnay, siblings, Mark (Carol) Poell , Mick (Mary) Poell, Mitch (Lorraine) Poell, Jamie (Martha) Poell and Marcia (Galen) Holston, Beth Dickson, Mary Ellen (Rick) Reese, and a sister-in-law, Jan (Warren) Kelly. Four grandchildren, Carly and Jack Bachelor, and Abigail and Kenzie Belnay also survive. He was predeceased by his parents , a brother-in-law, Bruce Dickson, and a nephew, Benjamin Dickson.
Marvin will lie in state at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church Sunday, where his family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by the US Navy Funeral Honor Detail assisted by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Topeka Public Library and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
