James (Jimmy) D. Hansen – December 9, 1949 – December 31, 2017
This obit was written by Jimmy Hansen himself.
I want to let the people I know and were close to and also knew but chose not to associate with or they with me, that I have left this mortal coil.
James (Jimmy) D. Hansen took his soul and left his body to research (being the science guy he was) on December 31, 2017. He was the son of James and Myrtle Hansen, Lincoln, Kansas, who preceded him in death. He was also the loving son-in law of Elton and Edie Schroder, Hays, Kansas. He is survived by the family he loved with all of his heart. His wife of 45 years, Peggy, his amazing sons and daughter in-laws Dashiell (Laura), Von (Ashley) and the grandchildren who were the loves of his life Dezmon, Cage and Rallie. He is also survived by his brother Mike (Kathy)Hansen, their children, sister Kathy (Dan) Reed, their children, his brother-in law Tom(Teresa)Schroder, their children and Rolland and Judith Baker who he considered more like buddies than Peg’s aunt and uncle.
As a lifelong believer that organized religion was one of the worst things ever produced by man, there will be no service. A memorial bench and Japanese Maple Tree (he loved trees just like his father) will be dedicated to him in the spring (he hated winter).
In lieu of flowers or I am glad you are gone you old reprobate, please make a donation to your local public radio or TV station and then actually watch PBS or listen to NPR occasionally!
