Richard “Rick” Jene Snyder passed away on December 25, 2017 at Midland Hospice in Topeka, KS at the age of 49. He was born on October 10, 1968, in Topeka, KS. He married Penny Stallard on January 6, 1990. They had two children, Joel and Justin Snyder. Later in life he married Candace Collins on February 10, 2006. They had one daughter, Abigail Snyder.
Rick attended Highland Park High School and Washburn University in Topeka, KS. He worked in management and as a field specialist for Dillon’s grocery store for 30 years. He had a strong work ethic and prided himself on creating perfect conditions in the stores he worked.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending his children’s sporting events, watching baseball and KU basketball. He loved collecting antiques and hunting for them at garage sales. Rick was the king of movie one-liners. You couldn’t carry on a lengthy conversation without him slipping one in.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Snyder. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Joel, Justin and Abigail Snyder of Topeka. He is survived by his father, Benton Snyder and step-mother, Judy Snyder of Topeka; his sisters, Debbie Snyder (Jerry Sylvester) of Lawrence, Linda Davis (Doug) of Topeka, and step-brother, Brian (Tina) Reichart of Smithville, MO, and his nieces, Karla (Mike) Silsby and Ashley Kerr of Topeka.
Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where his family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice, and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
