Albert Charles “Al” McVay, 92, of Topeka, died August 18, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on August 17, 1925 the son of William and Alta (Lewis) McVay. Al was employed at H.M. Ives Printing Shop retiring in 1990. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Al married Eva Virginia “Evie” Sanderson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 17, 1946. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2013. He is survived by six children, Nancy Huske of Silver Lake, Terry (Judy) McVay, Karen (Larry) Zishka, Jeanine Thill, all of Topeka, Roger (Laura) McVay, of Grantville, Julie Strole, of Topeka, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a twin brother, Robert “Bob” McVay. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Walter, Harry, Mildred and Virginia. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Cremation will follow with private inurnment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Parish and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
