Francis John “Frank” Habig, 80, of Topeka, died August 10, 2017 at his home.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 27,1936 the son of Philip Andrew and Mary Ann (Puhl) Habig.
Frank served in the Army National Guard. He worked as a form setter in the concrete business for Dick Schiffelbein and later for Schreiner’s Concrete. Earlier in his life he worked in the produce department for Joe White’s Grocery and Pence Grocery.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a volunteer in several capacities. He enjoyed boating, playing cards especially solitaire and socializing at the Pizza Parlor.
Frank was one of fourteen children. He is survived by five siblings, Delores “Lori” (John) Bayless, Kathleen (Don) Elersic, Charles (Cheryl) Habig, Darlene “Dolly” Truhe all of Topeka, and Joseph “Joe” (Lawanda) Habig of Welch, Oklahoma. He was predeceased by his parents and eight siblings, Philip Habig Jr., Mary Schiffelbein, Cecilia Umscheid, Jerome Habig, Vince Habig, Theresa Schiffelbein, Millie Plemons and Marty Shanley.
Frank was cremated. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. A Parish rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass. Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Joseph Restoration Fund and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
