Lawrence J. "Larry" Beier

Lawrence J. “Larry” Beier, 76, of Topeka, KS died in the comfort of his family on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home. He was born August 22, 1940 in Topeka, the son of Victor and Genevieve (Stadler) Beier. Larry was always appreciative of others and loved the simple things in life. He was a very caring, generous person with a great sense of humor and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Larry had a great work ethic, retiring in 2006 after working 47 ½ years as a mechanic for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was an avid gardener, sharing his asparagus all over Topeka. Larry was a lover of animals, raising goats, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, ducks, cows and dogs. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He married Joanne Boos on July 14, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She survives with their children, Jeanne Fitzgerald and her husband, John (Joe, Luke and Lauren), Cathy Konrade and her husband, Tom (Jacob and Charlie), Pam Darrow and her husband Jeff (Molly and Katy) all of Topeka, and Jerry Beier, of Kansas City, KS. Other survivors include eight siblings, Victor (Phyllis) Beier, Sue (Don) Keefer, Jean (Joseph) Herman, Steve (Cindy) Beier, Charles (Nancy) Beier, Greg Beier, Loretta (John Sperry) Beier, Dan (Lois Jean) Beier, brother-in-law, Dean Weichold and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sylvia Weichold. Larry bequeathed his body to science. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 312 NE Freeman. Prior to the Mass a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM. Following the rosary the family will greet friends until service time. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Restoration Fund, Topeka Rescue Mission or Midland Care Hospice, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
