Jose “Joe” Adame, 69, of Topeka, KS died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1947 in Topeka the son of Dolores Chavez and Norberto Adame, Sr. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was a painter at BNSF Railway, retiring after 34 years of service. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Nate Morales Chapter #11777 of the Knights of Columbus and San Juan Diego Council #3452 of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, was a head usher for years, took charge of BINGO every other month for several years, volunteered at Fiesta Mexicana for most of his life, and also a volunteer for Let’s Help serving lunches and helping with funeral lunches at the church. He enjoyed going to the casino with his buddies, bowling, and shooting pool. Joe married Ernestina Gallego on August 22, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Dolores Adame, his children, Angie Kelley, Andrea (Jose) Cerca and Elaine Guerrero, three brothers, Blue (Pat) Adame, Jr, John (Janet) Adame, Henry (Maxine) Adame, five sisters, Theresa (Julian) Flores, Anita Delci, Sandy (Leon) Hernandez, Juanita Adame, Lucy (Javier) Escalante along with six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Norberto, a sister, Caroline Adame and two brothers, Richard and Daniel Adame. Joe will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. A Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary and Chalice Ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, or the St. Francis Cancer Center, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
