Angela "Cookie" Castardo
June 27, 1942 — April 15, 2017
Angela “Cookie” Castardo, 74, died unexpectedly April 15, 2017 at her home. She was born June 27, 1942 in Topeka, KS the daughter of Christy and Lydia (Martinez) Serna. Cookie was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She retired as Director of Personnel, Department of Agriculture, for the State of Kansas. Cookie worked at the state for nearly 40 years. She married Domingo Castardo on June 5, 1965 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Cathy Campion, a sister, Dolores (Raymond) Delgado, three grandsons, Garet, Caden and Chasyn Campion all of Topeka. The family would like to recognize several of Cookies closest friends, Donna Reaka, Ginny McCord, Auda Ortiz, Sharon Long and Sally Moore. Thanks for being more than just friends, you are family. Cookie will lie in state after 2:00 pm Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Penwell Gabel Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
