Mildred A. Norris, of Topeka, passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was 95 years old, born in Ozawkie, Kansas on June 21, 1921 to Michael and Maude Ethel (Funk) Clare who were some of the first settlers in the area.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Charles of over 40 years. She is survived by her son Chuck Norris and wife Kathy of Mayetta, four grandchildren, Tina (Ron) Martin, and Heather Norris of Topeka, Carrie Norris M.D. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Chazz Norris (Angela) of Madison, Wisconsin, seven great grandchildren, Catie, Brittany, and Andrew Martin, Ashley (Brandon) Ott, Monte Scott Turner, Haydn Norris and Charlotte Norris. Mildred received a Bachelor’s degree in Business and was an Office Administrator for the Federal Government for 40 years. After her retirement she worked as a teller for Capitol Federal Savings where her great granddaughter Ashley has followed in her footsteps.
She lived her faith and was a very generous soul whose favorite phrase was “much to be thankful for”.
While she was able she took people to church who needed transportation. Mildred enjoyed playing dominos, gardening, traveling, stamp collecting but most important was her family and her ice cream. She enjoyed jewelry and fashion, was a seamstress and always meticulous in her appearance.
