Marcella Grace

Marcella Grace, 91, of Topeka, died March 12, 2017 at Oak Creek Assisted Living.

She was born on May 26, 1925 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Adam and Catherine (Rock) Puhl.

Marcella worked as a print developer for Zercher Photo and later in the microfilm division for the Clerk of the District Court where she retired from in 1987.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society at the church. She was an avid volunteer for the church especially in the kitchen and was proud of the years she worked serving the hot lunch program for Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School. Marcella enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, going to the casino, but mostly the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marcella married John Gilbert “Jack” Grace on April 12, 1945 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1991. She was also predeceased by a son, Gerard Grace on August 4, 2011. She is survived by her children, Joseph (Judy) Grace, John (Mary) Grace, Thomas (Deb) Grace, Robert Grace and Mary Kay (Keith) Hendrickson, a sister Agnes Schiffelbein all of Topeka and 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with one on the way. Marcella was also predeceased by her siblings, Joe, Adam, Johnny, Andrew, Barb, Susie, Tillie, Mary, Maggie, Josephine, Katie, and Mildred.

Marcella will lie in state on Thursday, March 16th at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and rosaries will be prayed by the Parish at 5:00 p.m. and by the Altar Society at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 17th at 10:00 am. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Altar Society at Sacred Heart to help with the church renovations at Sacred Heart.
