Lucille Lorraine (Lucy) McNeece , of Topeka, Passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. Lucy was born November 4, 1922 in Geuda Springs, Ks the daughter of Charles Owen Young and Lois (Frem) Young. She graduated from Eureka High School. Lucy was employed at various businesses in her early life. She was one of the first employees of the Winter Veteran Hospital now called Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family. Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family, helping neighbors , friends, caring for animals in need, loved music, dancing with her husband, fishing, camping, traveling, knitting, restoring antique furniture, putting puzzles together and framing them, baking cakes and pies. Lucy won many ribbons at the Kansas Free fair decades ago. Lucy worked with her husband cultivating a huge vegetable garden every year. She married Avon Monroe (Mac) McNeece on June 14, 1946 in Kansas City, MO. Survivors include two brothers, Charles Young of Albuquerque, NM., Gale Young of Rock Falls, ILL, sister Joyce Buckey of High Ridge, MO , her children Donna VanHole of Stillwater, OK and Jim McNeece and his wife Linda and a grandson, Jordan McNeece all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her Husband Avon McNeece (Mac), her mom Lois Young, her dad James Young, her sibling Olive (Sis) Horn and her brother Leonard Young. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm (noon) until 1:00 pm Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Hope Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested in her memory to Midland Hospice sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
