Mary Emma Root

Mary E. Root, 86, of Topeka, KS died at her home on December 28, 2016.  She was born December 6, 1930 in Topeka the daughter of Felipe and Lorenza (Salinas) Munoz.  Mary was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  She married Merral Root on June 20, 1980 in Topeka.  He survives.  Other survivors include twelve children, Linda (Charles) Ricks, Daniel (Nancy) Martinez all of San Diego, CA, Ray (Connie) Martinez of Olathe, KS, Mary (Ruben) Cerca, Abner (Connie) Gonzales, Tanya (Jimmie) Hartley, Pamela (Thomas, Sr.)  Shump, Michelle Beier all of Topeka, Kitty Ray of Sedalia, MO, Sheila Root, Tracy Root and Tim Root all of Topeka.   Five siblings, Terry Caballero, Sam Muñoz, Philip Muñoz, Mickey Muñoz, Dicky Muñoz, twenty-eight grandchildren along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.  Mary will lie in state Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where the family will receive friends from 8:30 until 10:00 am.  A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday, at the church.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6^th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
