Dorothy Ellen Dozier, 76, of Topeka, Kansas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 6, 2016. Born November 9, 1940 in Ellsworth, Kansas she was the daughter of Archie and Aermine Marcotte. Dorothy loved her family and friends, Sister’s Weekends, walking, the outdoors, being barefoot, boating on the lake even though she couldn’t swim, gardening, traveling, her shelties, and antiquing. Dorothy had the gift of hospitality that was demonstrated in the way she loved making people feel welcome and at home. She is remembered for her gentleness, kindness and faith. She was a “gentle soul.” Dorothy was chief clerk at Missouri Pacific Railroad and then in a career shift, she became a recruiter for Office Mates 5/Management Recruiters until her retirement. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Red Hat Ladies and a Let’s Help volunteer. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, John W. Dozier. Survivors also include children Christie (John) Chance, of Topeka, Paul Bryant and his fiancé, Sue Perez, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Karen (Dave) Maudlin, of Hill City, SD, Julie (Jeff) Hochstedler, of Topeka, James (Cheri) Dozier, of Eaton, CO; grandchildren: Sydni, Dalton, Camryn, Austin, Dustin, Erin, Evan, Tyler, Mathew, Eli, and Miles; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers and seven sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and twin daughters, Nancy Marie Bryant and Linda Marie Bryant. The family will receive friends Friday, November 11th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home with a Parish Rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer’s Disease and other related disorders sent in care of Brennen-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave, Topeka KS 66603.
