Joyce Jeanette Kriegel

Joyce Jeanette Kriegel, 77, of Topeka, died October 23, 2016 at the House at Midland Care surrounded by her family.

She was born in Great Bend, Kansas on July 28, 1939, the daughter of Loren William and Bertha Luella (Lankford) Myers.

Joyce worked as a Billing Clerk for St. Francis Hospital and had previously worked in the Sales Tax Division for the Kansas Department of Revenue and as a bus driver and taxi driver.

She enjoyed crafts, quilting, reading, traveling, going to Broadway shows and was a member of several square dance clubs.  Joyce especially enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.

She married Francis Larry Kriegel at Forbes Air Force Base Chapel on January 11, 1958.  They celebrated 58 years of marriage.  He survives.  Joyce is also survived by her children, Dianna Sims (Robert ) of Topeka, Kimberly Nash (Keith) of Estill Springs, Tennessee, Dwayne Kriegel (Tammy) of Grinnell, Iowa, Larry Kriegel (Josey) of Navarre, Florida, and Loren Kriegel of Topeka, two brothers, Robert Myers (Bobbee) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Larry Myers (Roberta) of Joplin, Missouri, a sister, Nancy Nickell (Ted) of Murphy, North Carolina, 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and her parents.

Joyce will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Carbondale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6^th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
