George T. Narolis, 85, formerly of Taberg, NY, passed away October 21, 2016 surrounded by his family at the Colmery - O’Neil Veterans’s Sunflower Memory Center. George was born in Taberg, NY, on January 13, 1931, the eleventh child of thirteen, to Mela and Barbara (Zalec) Narolis. George retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant after 20 years of service. He then retired as a welder after 25 years at Topeka Metal Specialties and 28 years part-time at Stauffer Publications. George enjoyed many hobbies; working on cars and tractors, being outside in his garden and any other project that would keep him outside especially working in the woods. He loved bowling, camping, hunting, fishing, boating; his Friday morning Air Force Sergeant’s Coffee Group and attending sporting events for his grandchildren. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #534, American Legion Post 400, the Eagles and Air Force Sergeants. He married Elizabeth “Betty” O’Rourke on June 30, 1959 in Reno, NV. She survives. Survivors also include his two daughters; Laura (Roger) McVay and Georgianne (John) Crow, and grandchildren; Carly (Jacob) Junod, Dylan Crow, Cole (Katheryn) McVay, Makenzie Crow, Connor McVay, Bailie Crow, and Sydnie Crow; and, two great-grandchildren, Eden Junod and Addeline McVay. Lorraine Narolis, his second daughter preceded him in death. George will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary to be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Final resting place will be held in Taberg, NY.
