Thomas Zappa

Thomas R. Zappa, 72, of Topeka, KS, died September 29, 2016 at his home.  He was born December 2, 1943 in Dwight, IL, the son of James and Madora (Forney) Zappa.  Thomas joined the Army and served from 1966 until 1972 during the Vietnam War.  He retired as operator of maintenance from General Foods (Quaker Foods).  Thomas married Patti Jo Schiefelbein on February 22, 1964, they later divorced.  She survives.  Other survivors include a brother John Zappa of Phoenix, two nieces, Misty (Leonard Gonzales) Zappa of Topeka and Lisa K. (Cory) Zappa-Fehl, Phoenix.  He was preceded in death by his parents James Zappa and Madora Nelson.   Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to service.  Inurnment with military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Thomas will be remembered by his family and friends as a very charitable, good, and loving man.  Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6^th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66603.
