Carvel Reynoldson, Sr., 82, died at Saint Francis Hospital in his sleep on September 17, 2016.
Born December 21st, 1933 in Boone County, Nebraska, to Clair and Vera Reynoldson, he grew up on the farm with three brothers near Saint Edward, Nebraska. He graduated from Saint Edward High School in 1951. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1958 after serving two years.
He married Anita Saunders on June 2, 1956, in Saint Edward, Nebraska, enjoying 60 years of marriage. Carvel and Anita were blessed with six children, 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Carvel moved his family to Topeka in 1958 and they moved near Meriden in 1999. He worked 38 years for Whelan’s Lumber Company. Carvel enjoyed golf and watching sports, especially football. He was a loving and proud parent and was Papa to his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lester Dean Reynoldson, grandchild Aleah Reynoldson and great grandchildren Joshua and Gabriel Wahlmeier, and Colette Demers. Survivors include his wife Anita, children Teresa Rudolph (Jim), Allen Reynoldson, Daniel Reynoldson (Gina), Dean Reynoldson (Brenda), Lisa Perron (Bob) and Carvel Reynoldson, Jr. (Karen); his brothers Lawrence Reynoldson and Daryl Reynoldson.
Carvel will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21st, at Saint Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 801 Westchester Road in Topeka. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #421 and the Army National Guard.
