Florence C. Minihan, 95, of Topeka, died September 15, 2016 at Lexington Park Assisted Living.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on August 17, 1921, the daughter of John and Matilda (Schwerdt) Hefner.
Florence married James Minihan in Topeka on September 7, 1942. James died October 27, 2000.
She is survived by twin sons, James M. “Jim” (Mary Ann) Minihan Jr. and Walter J. “Wally” (Bernadine E.) Minihan, granddaughter Bernadine C. (Timothy) Bachta, and great grandchildren Nathan, Reece, Ella and Chase Bachta. Florence was preceded in death by her siblings Walter Hefner, Joseph Hefner and Betty Beasly.
Florence worked as a Stitcher for Adams Business Forms and retired in 1983 after 26 and a half years of service. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Florence enjoyed bingo and playing cards. She also loved to cook, especially baking.
Florence will lie in state after 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm and a D. of I., K. of C. and Parish combined Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Renovation Fund or to Grace Hospice, sent in her memory to the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
