Jeanne Gifford

Jeanne C. Gifford, 85, of Topeka, Kansas passed away August 29, 2016 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.  She was born in Topeka on October 2, 1930, the daughter of Harlan and Clara (Higdon) Turner.  Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper for Tuner’s Café, the family business.  She enjoyed crosswords puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, KU Basketball and auto racing.  Jeanne was a member of NCO Wives and she enjoyed working in the thrift store.  Jeanne married Jerome G. Gifford on September 3, 1950 in Leavenworth, Kansas.  Jerome passed away June 19, 1973.  Jeanne is survived by her children, Jerome “Jerry” Gifford, Topeka, and Diane Johnson, Olympia, Washington, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  A private inurnment took place at Fort Leavenworth.  Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate Foundation or Midland Hospice and sent care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
