Lisa Lynn McWhorter

Lisa Lynn McWhorter, 55, of Topeka, died on July 9, 2016 at her home.

She was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on April 8, 1961 the daughter of Richard and Marilyn S. (Metzer) McWhorter.

She was a graduate of Field Kindley High School and received her Associates of Arts degree from Coffeyville Community College.  Lisa had been a bank teller. 

Lisa enjoyed reading, writing poetry and spending time with her grandchildren.  She will be remembered as a spiritual person who was very kind hearted.  She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

She is survived by her parents, Richard and Marilyn McWhorter of Topeka, one daughter, Samantha (Bradley) Buyle of Manhattan, Ks., three grandsons, Liam, Kade and Dierk Buyle; two sisters, Marci (Tim) Roberts of Coffeyville, Ks., and Ann (Drew) Stevens of Topeka, five nieces and one nephew.  She is also survived by her companion Steve Rips.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 5:30 p.m.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville, Ks.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Most Pure Heart of Mary School.
