Shirley Darlene Briggs

October 1, 1940 — July 7, 2016

Shirley Darlene Briggs, of Topeka, Kansas died July 7, 2016.  She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on October 1, 1940, the daughter of Albert and Lorrene (Ewing) Casida.  Shirley worked at Sam’s Club for over twenty years.  She attended Topeka First Assembly of God.  She was married to Dale Briggs.  He preceded her in death in 2008.  Shirley is survived by a son, Jay Briggs, daughter, Connie (Craig) Heiland, and three grandchildren, Ally, Cody, and Kylie Heiland, all of Topeka.  Private burial has taken place in Reading Phillips Duck Creek Cemetery in rural Lyon County.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS  66603.
