Nina Jann Tetuan Adame

Nina Jann Tetuan Adame, 60, of Topeka, died April 29, 2016 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

She was born January 20, 1956 in Topeka, the daughter of Rosalino “Rosie” and Amelia (Ortiz) Tetuan II.

Nina was an employee for the Topeka Public Schools where she worked as an ELL Paraprofessional for 22 years at McClure Elementary School after working for Potwin Elementary before it closed. She had also worked for Partytime and was a co-owner at the Lucky 5 Restaurant.  Mrs. Tetuan Adame was an important member of the ELL department at McClure.  She was committed to helping the children learn English and also helping their families by working as a translator and providing school documents for them in Spanish.  She will be missed by the McClure School Community.

She taught CCD classes for 30 years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she served as a coordinator for two years.

Nina married Tony Adame on October 15, 2011. He survives. 

Other survivors include her father in law, Blue Adame (Pat) and her mother in law, Eleanor Adame, her aunts, Genevieve Vasquez (Modesto) and Augustina Tetuan (Larry Moran), all of Topeka. She is also survived by several cousins and godchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Albert Tetuan and Rosalino Tetuan III.

She will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by the OLG Knights of Columbus Council #11777.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
