Stephen V. “Steve” Broxterman, 61, of Topeka, died March 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on October 4, 1954 the son of Leland and Norma (Tussel) Broxterman.
Steve was a computer programmer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for 30 years.
He attended Wanamaker Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a Board member of the Topeka Tennis Association.
Steve enjoyed playing tennis and pickleball as well as fishing, kayaking and camping. He was also an avid history enthusiast.
Steve married Peggy Jacobia on June 15, 1974, they later divorced. He married Ann Evans in Topeka on August 12, 1995 and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Brian Broxterman, Bonnie Broxterman (Adam Chapman), Jamie (James) Kim, and Rebecca Broxterman, his grandson, Aidan Chapman, his mother, Norma Broxterman all of Topeka and his siblings, Cynthia Miller of Valley Falls, Christine Austin of Topeka and Michael (Kathy) Broxterman of Ozawkie. He was preceded in death by his father Leland Broxterman and a stillborn daughter, Jessica.
Steve will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Wanamaker Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2435 SW Wanamaker Road, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Tennis Association Junior Scholarship Fund or to Grace Hospice sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
