Helen Louise Puderbaugh, 87, of Topeka, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Peggy Kelly House.
She was born on February 21, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Eli and Beulah (Firestone) Smith. Helen graduated from the Lecompton High School.
Helen was a homemaker, an Avon Representative and worked for KNI as a Medical Records Director from 1972 to 1994. She was a member of the Topeka Church of the Brethren and the Kansas Genealogical Society. Helen was a graduate of the four year Menninger Bible Study Course and also was a graduate of the Church’s Lay-Pastor program.
Music has always been very important to Helen. She took piano lessons, practiced at home on a reed organ and piano and loved to sing and play the old hymns on her electric organ. She also loved quilting and genealogy.
She married Eslie A. Puderbaugh on July 25, 1952 in Washington Creek, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1984
Survivors include her children: Gary (Jan) Puderbaugh of Independence, Missouri, Steven (Terry) Puderbaugh of St. Joseph, Missouri, Curtis (Stacy) Puderbaugh of Topeka, Kansas, Janet Puderbaugh of Westmont, Illinois, and David Puderbaugh of Topeka, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Helen will lie in state on Monday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will be Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
