Raymond Perez, 93, of Topeka, died January 3, 2016 at Overland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Mexico, on January 3, 1924, the son of Rudolpho and Virginia (Serrano) Perez.
Raymond was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force. He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Era. After his retirement from the military he worked in Supply at Stormont-Vail hospital for ten years.
He enjoyed working on cars and was good at mechanical projects. He was a former member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Raymond married Elsa Yray in the Philippines in 1968. She preceded him in death in May of 2005. He was also predeceased by a brother, Rudy Perez and a sister, Martha Jackson, and his parents.
Survivors include his children, Larry Perez of Overland Park, KS, and Lisa (Scott) Hardin of Wichita, a sister, Blanche Johnson of San Antonio, TX, and seven grandchildren.
Raymond will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral services with military honors will be held at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
