Richard E. Stanley, 54, of Topeka, died December 28, 2015 at his home.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 30, 1961 the son of Otis and Valetta (O’Mara) Stanley.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Richard worked as a chef for the Caravan Club, Marilyn’s, LePecardi’s, Chick-a-Dee and the Pizza Parlor.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coaching baseball, watching the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Survivors include his sisters, Debrah Katsbulas and Michele Stanley Brown, both of Topeka, and Deana Akin of Perry, three brothers, David Stanley of Corpus Christi, Texas, Thomas Stanley and Kenneth Stanley both of Topeka. Richard is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews.
Richard will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. The family will greet friends following the rosary until 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Colony Cemetery in Colony, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Richard spent his life being a chef and he delighted in providing a good meal for others. It was his wish that he would have the opportunity to provide one last meal for his family and friends. So in his honor, a meal will be provided at 5:00 p.m. on Monday in the basement of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
