Frank Mauer, 90, of Topeka, died December 16, 2015 at Tanglewood Care Home. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 5, 1925 the son of John and Emma (Hefner) Mauer. Frank served in the US Navy aboard the USS Chenango serving in World War II. He retired from the U.S. Post Office as a Safety Specialist on December 28, 1981. Frank enjoyed going to garage sales and collecting hot wheels cars and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Frank married Betty “Jane” Carruthers in Topeka, Kansas on May 3, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1992. He was also predeceased by a daughter Janet Mauer , five sisters, Irene Reeb, Regina Hartman, Catherine Edee, Isabel Mauer and Lucille Bean, four brothers, John Jr., Charles, Joseph and Jacob Mauer. Survivors include a son, Perry James (Dottie) Mauer of Carbondale, Kansas, and a daughter, Theresa Hayes of Topeka, and his siblings, Raymond Mauer, Ann Harmes, Lavina McCall and Delores Mauer and five grandchildren, Jamie Mauer, Jimmy Hayes, Jessica Mauer-Weber, Jennifer Brown, and Jeremy Brown, and several great grandchildren. He will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
