Mary Margaret Perkuhn, 95, of Topeka , died November 16, 2015. She was born on a farm in Hanover, Kansas on February 11th, 1920 the daughter of Wesley J. and Mary L. (Kutina) Sekal. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Omaha, Nebraska. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She especially loved her time with her grandchildren. She loved her music and encouraged her children to be active in music and sports. She was a past member of the Sweet Adelines group in Topeka. Mary worked at Santa Fe Hospital and Christ Hospital in Topeka. She worked at Capper Publications, in the school lunch program at Wanamaker Grade School, Presbyterian Manor, and was a Dietician for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503. Mary married Melvin F. Perkuhn on April 27th 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. He predeceased her on July 7th, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Sekal and Gilbert Sekal. Survivors include her children, Catherine Altman and her husband Dave of Silver Lake, Thomas Perkuhn and his wife Karen of Topeka, a sister Theresa Koehler of Hanover, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mary will lie in state at Christ the King Church on Thursday after 4:00 p.m. where a Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at Christ the King Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
