Robert Lee Hicks, 66, of Topeka, died November 16, 2015 at his home. He was born January 9, 1949, in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Richard and Edna (Sheets) Hicks. Robert served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked for the Topeka Police Department as an officer before pursuing a career in Insurance Sales. He enjoyed golfing, boating and watching his grandsons play baseball. Robert married Bobbi Hoefer on February 23, 1974 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Edna Hicks of Abilene, Kansas, his children, Tara (Jarrod) Florence, and Brett (Diana) Hicks, all of Topeka, a sister, Cindy Jones of Hutchinson, Kansas, and five grandchildren. Robert will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21st, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 604.
