Joan M. Kukar

Joan M. Kukar, 76, died November 6, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on September 16, 1939 in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of John and Molly (Hervoy) Slovnik. She graduated from North Chicago Community High School in 1957. Joan enjoyed bowling and going to lunch with the ladies. Joan married Clarence Kukar on June 11, 1960 in Waukegan, Illinois. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together. Other survivors include her son, Scott Kukar of Tucson, Arizona, two brothers John and William, and her sisters, Maxine, Patricia, Nancy, and Veronica. Joan was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell and Richard, and a sister Barbara on September 17, 2015. Joan will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
