Russell Dale Carlat

September 18, 1924 — October 12, 2015

Russell "Dale" Carlat, 91, of Tecumseh, died October 11, 2015 at his home. He was born in Auburn, Kansas on September 18, 1924, the son of Roy and Martha (McComb) Carlat. He was a graduate of Auburn High School and the Topeka Trade School. Mr. Carlat served in the U.S. Army both in active duty and the Ready Reserve. Dale worked many years in manufacturing and retired from DuPont Company with over 26 years of service. He enjoyed organic gardening, and experimenting with different trees and fruits. Dale married Lorena (McNabb) Fellers in Burlingame, Kansas on June 4, 1954. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, LeAnn (Lee) Fouts of Auburn, three step-sons, Dan (Elva) Fellers of Topeka, Bob (Linda) Fellers of Lebo, John (Linda) Fellers of Melvern, a grandson, Brady Fouts, 12 step grandchildren, Brian, Wayne, Scott, Bridget, Theresa, Mark, Tammy, Anna, Chris, Kim, Shannon and Mendy and 16 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Louis, a sister, Louise and a step-granddaughter, Terry. Dale will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Auburn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice or to the Helping Hands Humane Society, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
