David Ray Stanley, 59, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on September 8, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 26, 1956 in Topeka, the son of Lee and Joanne (Treiber) Stanley. David graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and Seaman High School. He worked for Sherman's Feed Store and Goodyear Tire, before joining the Topeka Police Department as a patrolman where he worked for 10 years. He then joined his brother Scott in the grocery business where he was co-owner in several stores in northeast Kansas. He was a member of the Army National Guard for six years. He enjoyed being outdoors, running, hunting, exercising and tending a community garden after moving to the Kansas City area. He is survived by his parents, his siblings, Brenda Lister (Terry) of Topeka, Susie Grey of Valley Falls, Mark Stanley of Topeka, Kellie Puderbaugh (Les) of Independence, Kansas, Scott Stanley (Wendi) of Ozawkie, and a sister-in-law Sheryl Stanley of Goddard, Kansas, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by a brother Douglas Stanley on April 2, 2013 and his grandparents, George and May Stanley and Maurice and Martha Treiber. David will lie in state on Sunday, September 13th after 6:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden where a parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. in Meriden. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.
