Leonard M. Robinson, 71, of Canon City and Salida CO passed away on August 22, 2015 at UC Hospital, Denver CO. He was born to the late Joe and Mary (Gilliland) Robinson in Topeka KS, on July 21, 1944. Leonard graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka in 1962 and Washburn University with a BA degree in 1968. He received an appointment to Navy Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned Ensign in July 1968 and served on active duty until July 1970. He returned to Topeka where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1973. During his law career, Leonard was in private practice for over sixteen years. He also served as County Attorney of Wabaunsee County, as Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Topeka, as Municipal Judge for the City of Auburn, and as Attorney General for the State of Kansas in the Departments of Alcohol and Beverage Control and the Consumer Protection Division. He ended his career working for the State of Colorado in Chaffee and Fremont counties. Leonard married Penny Slagle in 1989, and in 2006, they moved to Salida CO to retire. Leonard was an avid fisherman, both spinning and fly fishing and enjoyed many ponds and lakes in Kansas and many mountain streams and rivers in Colorado. He is survived by Penny Robinson of Canon City CO, daughters, Kelly (Aaron) Anderson and Amy Robinson of Topeka KS, one sister, Mary Jo (Bill) Hodge of Osage City KS, grandchildren, Jacob Turner, Josh Turner, Kellan Anderson and Veda Anderson, as well as extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Dover Federated Church, Dover KS on Sat., Sept. 26, at 11:00 am. A lunch will be served following the service at the Dover Fellowship Hall.
