John E. Munson

John E. Munson Jr., 77 of Topeka, died July 31, 2015 at the House at Midland Care. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 17, 1938 the son of John E. and Freda (Huffman) Munson. John graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in History and Geography. He also attended Washburn and KU as he was always interested in furthering his knowledge for learning. John was a Librarian for the Topeka Public Library for 27 years. He loved to read especially History and Geography and studied World War II and Europe extensively. John also enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe. He is survived by a sister, Dolores Martin of Iowa Park, Tx. and a brother Thomas Munson of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Atkinson and a brother, Richard Scott. John will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Mater Dei Holy Name Church. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
