Marty P. Artzer, 52, of Topeka, died July 21, 2015. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on August 16, 1962 the son of Charles and Loretta (Tunison) Artzer. Marty was a 1980 graduate of Hayden High School and received a BA degree in Communications from Washburn University in 1985. He worked for UPS retiring after 34 years of service. Marty also owned and operated a taxidermy company. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and was a loyal Chief's fan. He especially enjoyed coaching his children in various sports. Marty is survived by his children, Chelsea, Casey and Caitlyn Artzer, his siblings, Dennis (Nancy) Artzer, Steve (Cindy) Artzer, Beth (Dean) Burrell, Larry (Mary Anne) Artzer, and Mary (Frank) Tiernan, several nieces and nephews, his companion Cathy Decker and his dogs, Cosmo and Kramer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Loretta Artzer. He will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 312 Freeman. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
