Theresa A. Schleif, 74, of Topeka, died July 21, 2015 at her home. She was born in St. Marys, Kansas on August 19, 1940 the second of 13 children born to Alfonso T. and Anna Marie (Aubert) Verschelden. Theresa was a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics at St. Francis Hospital for 43 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar Society at the church, and was a Eucharistic Minister at the hospital. Theresa married Marvin Schleif on August 4, 1962 in St. Marys, Kansas. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Leslie P. Schleif of Tecumseh, three daughters, Lisa (Mike) Deghand of Berryton, Cecelia (Bob) Resnik of Topeka and Michelle (Pete) Webber of Gulf Port, MS, eight grandchildren; Jessica, Jacob, Zac, Benjamin, Emily, Lucas, Nathan and Devan and a great grandson, Hoyt. Her surviving siblings are: Alice Zeller, Joan Falley, Regina Verschelden, John Verschelden, Rita Etzel, Ann Fouts, Anita Culbertson, Frank Verschelden, Margaret Cunningham, Kenny Verschelden and Joe Verschelden. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Jo Lacock. Theresa will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. where an Altar Society Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
