Marina Victoria Alvarez

Marina Victoria Alvarez, 41, of Topeka, died July 20, 2015 at Stormont-Vail hospital. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 15, 1974 the daughter of Vincent Paul and Monica (Martinez) Alvarez. Marina was a 1993 graduate of Westport High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Marina was a child care provider for Christ the King Daycare. She loved children and enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews. Marina also enjoyed reading, watching scary movies and was a NASCAR enthusiast. She looked forward to going with her friends on trips every year. She is survived by her mother and step father, Monica and David Hernandez, five sisters, Olivia Ghazi of Topeka, Jessica (Cory) Willis of Topeka, Jennifer (Jim) Martinez of Clinton, Utah, Amy Hernandez of Clinton, Utah and Theresa Hernandez of Independence, Mo., and many nieces, nephews and friends. Marina will lie in state at Christ the King Catholic Church on Thursday where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 S.W. 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66603 to assist Marina's family with expenses.
