Barbara Ann Atwell

Barbara Ann Atwell, 56, of Omaha, Nebraska died July 12, 2015 at her home. Barbara was born on February 24, 1959 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Julian and Clara (Gutierrez) Jaramillo. At that time, she was the smallest baby born at Stormont-Vail Hospital. Barbara graduated from Wichita State University and Johnson County Community College. She worked as a Supervisor in Drafting Services for the Metropolitan Utilities District in Omaha for 23 years. She was very fond of her job and proud of her time there. Barbara was a lifelong Kansas Jayhawk Fan. She married Curt Atwell in Wichita, Kansas in 1985. He survives. Other survivors include her children: Ashlee (Austin) Filippi and Adam (Keri) Atwell all of Omaha, a sister, Carol Jaramillo of Laurel, Maryland, and a brother Ron Jaramillo of Overland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Gomel. Barbara will lie in state after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
