Romualdo "Romie" Chavez, 56, of Topeka, KS, died July 10, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born February, 7, 1959 in Topeka, the son of Manuel and Mary (Mendoza) Chavez. Romie worked for Hallmark Cards as a large dye cut operator retiring in 2009 and then worked a few years at Westar Energy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family, friends and his granddaughters. He married Susan Dominguez on May 2, 1981 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She survives. Other survivors include his sons, Romualdo Ray Chavez of Topeka, Michael Anthony Chavez and his wife Sara of Lawrence, Marcus Gabriel Chavez of Topeka, his mother, Mary Chavez and eight siblings, Manuel Chavez, Jr. and his wife, Alice, Michael Chavez, Paul Chavez, Susie Luna and her husband Joe, James Chavez and his wife Anna, Frederick Chavez and his wife Michele, John (Tommy) Chavez and Maria Gomez all of Topeka. Two granddaughters, Sofia and Ava Chavez also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. A Chaplet of Devine Mercy will be prayed at 5:00 P.M. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the church.
