Lucy G. Ramirez

Lucy Gomez Ramirez, 91, of Topeka, died July 4, 2015 at Aldersgate Village. Lucy was born on December 16, 1923 in Topeka, the daughter of Alfonso and Luz (Sanchez) Gomez. She married Jesus A. Ramirez on January 26, 1947 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2009. Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She supported them by attending their school and sporting activities. She was also an excellent cook, enjoyed working in her yard and kept both the inside and outside of her home immaculate. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed her shopping trips with the girls and eating out. Lucy loved spoiling her dog Spunky. She is survived by her children, Jesus "Jesse Jr." Ramirez (Eva), Linda (Bill) Gonzalez, Diana Ramirez, all of Topeka, her grandchildren: Mark Clanton, Nanette Clanton, Jesse Ramirez, Troy Ramirez, Brian Ramirez, Ryan Barron, Jordan Barron, Jessica Barron, and her great-grandchildren: Emily Clanton, Elijah Clanton, Zachary Padilla, Nick Padilla, Parker Ramirez, Hudson Ramirez, Sam Ramirez, Jesus Ramirez III, Santos Ramirez, Elena Ramirez, Briana Ramirez, Brian Ramirez II, four step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren, and her siblings: Raul Gomez (Carmen), Rudy Gomez (Cecilia), Ernestine Sandate, Rachel Griego, Bill Gomez (Martha) and Mary Beneka (Bob), all of Topeka. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Ralph, DeSale, John, Silvino, Alfonso, and Alfred Gomez. Lucy will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where an Altar Society rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be given to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 S.W. 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66603.
