Catherine Gomez

Catherine Gomez, 46, of Topeka, KS died May 4, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born October 22, 1968 in Topeka, the daughter of Rudolph and Cecilia (Lopez) Gomez. Catherine was a receptionist at the Birth and Women's Center of Topeka and previously was a medical secretary at the Neurosurgical Associates. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a former member of the Washburn University Running Club where she participated in several marathons in Topeka and across the country. Catherine just received her Bachelor's Degree of Integrated Studies from Washburn University. Catherine loved animals, spending time outdoors, walking dogs especially her dog Jazz. She enjoyed traveling and running with her daughter and exercising with her sister. Catherine was very athletic and very close to her family. Survivors include her partner, Jim Doblin, a daughter, Cheryl (Rene) Garcia, Parents, Rudolph and Cecilia Gomez, a brother Adrian (Anna) Gomez, two sisters, Bernadine Gomez and Alexandra (Rodney Simecka) Gomez all of Topeka. Catherine will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
