Barbara E. (Goodhue) Glotzbach, 77, of Topeka, KS, died April 7, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born January 15, 1938 in Lebanon, New Hampshire the daughter of Rolfe and Geneva (Sydney) Goodhue, Sr. She was reared in Lebanon, NH, attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Lebanon High School. Barbara had a great love of "babies" and knew she wanted to work with children. Barbara worked at Newark, New Jersey Cort Memorial Hospital to train as a Child Care Technician. She did private duty at Madison New Jersey and decided to go further in her studies so she entered the LPN training class at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire. She graduated and went to Mt. Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Then she returned to Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital to work in the Intensive Care Unit. In 1964 she came to Kansas with her older sister to care for her two boys while she had a new baby girl. Attending a Single's Club activity she met Philip Glotzbach and they were married on July 31, 1965 in Lebanon, New Hampshire. They bought a home south of Auburn, Kansas where Philip farmed and she was a stay at home mom. She was involved in scouts for her children and stayed very active in their schools and sports as they got older. Barbara had three special grandsons, Cooper, Colby and Carson whom she cared for over the years and brought much joy and love to her life. She enjoyed crafts and went to craft shows with her daughter. She often enjoyed watching Theresa (Terri) play sports in her adult life too. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Steinman and her grandsons, Cooper, Colby and Carson all of Topeka, a sister, Beverly (Allen) Talley of Warner-Robins, GA, and Rolfe (Geraldine) Goodhue Jr. of Lebanon, New Hampshire. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Philip in 1999, her parents, five siblings at birth as well as two brothers, Edward and Larry, a sister, Judith LeMay, and a son Richard in 2003. She will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Christ the King Catholic Church on Thursday, April 9th, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newbury, Kansas.
