Rosario D. Alonso

Rosario D. Alonso, 91, of Topeka, KS died March 16, 2015 at Aldersgate Village. She was born October 7, 1923 in Havana, Cuba, the daughter of Ricardo and Maria Diez. She became a US Citizen in the late 1960's. Rosario was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was a Sacristan from 1980 until 2004. She enjoyed reading, music, and shopping. She married Rene A. Alonso. M.D. in 1950 in Havana, Cuba. He preceded her in death October 11, 1979. Survivors include two sons, Rene R. Alonso and his wife, Paula of Little Rock, AR and Carlos G. Alonso and his wife, Jolene of Ft. Worth, TX. Five grandchildren, Geoffrey, Erin, Michael, Melissa and Jacob along with two great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Rayleigh also survive. She was also preceded in death by two brothers. Rosario will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:30 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
